ABSTRACT
Brick making was one of civilization's first steps towards self-preservation, once man moved out of the caves. Techniques have, of course, progressed dramatically from the early days, some thousands of years ago, but the basic principles of manufacture remain the same today as they were then - namely, the art of combining earth, fire and water. The process involves four main stages, which are described below.
