ABSTRACT

Steven strauss, who is both linguist and neurologist as well as a good friend, came to the author some years ago with a video of one of his aphasic patients exhibiting an odd behavior. Stuart is a remarkable man. He is determined to live as normal a life as possible. He maintained a strong sense of humor, often laughing at his own clumsiness, and showed no signs of depression. His supportive wife always came with him and sat in our sessions. The study very much depended on his insights into his own performance as a reader. It was an opportunity for the author to test his reading theory in the context of Stuar’s aphasia. So, the methodology emerged. Garcia-Obregon has used miscue analysis to look at the relationship of his reading performance and competence.
