Letters and Numbers in Early Literacy

As an introduction to letters and numbers in early literacy, it seems appropriate to present some general comments concerning the ideas that continue to guide my own research on literacy development. The aim of these remarks is to clarify my unique way of looking at literacy development, which allowed me, from the very beginning, to put in evidence some hidden facts that no natural observations could show, whether they be natural observations in classrooms or in family settings.
