Controls of Flexible Mechanical Structures
In this chapter, the authors introduce a typical modeling method for flexible mechanical structures; then explains the relationship between modeling and contro, to extend an understanding of the basic characteristics of this type of control system. One modeling technique for the control of flexible structures is introduced based on a bending-torsion-coupled system. On the control system without residual modes, using a precise mathematical model and considering coupling and flexibility, the reader can control the coupled vibrations under a limited noise process. Coupling influence degree can be an index for the evaluation of control performance when one uses an uncoupled model to control a coupled system. In the case of coupled system control with optimal gain chosen from an uncoupled model, the control strategy for coupling spill over is the same as stated earlier, but because of the existence of modeling error, the poles of controlled modes are not set as designed.
