ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the integrated facilities for analysis, modeling, design, and real-time implementation of the Computer-Aided Design and Analysis of Control Systems (CADACS) system. The idea to realize complete development cycles for control system design through the use of digital computers as a primary tool during the identification, modeling, and design phase until the final implementation in a direct digital controller goes back as far as the early seventies. CADACS is an integrated development package for analysis and synthesis of control systems which has been developed by the Automatic Control Group in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Ruhr-University Bochum. According to the different types of system representation and components of dynamic systems, the database offers for each type of control engineering fundamentals, a specific binary type of file. The Graphics Manager is a centralized graphical representation of control engineering objects in diagrams. All tasks for graphical representation within CADACS are handled by the Graphics Manager.
