ABSTRACT

This paper presents a summary of the ACI’s involvement in the development of International Standards for Concrete, Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete. The International Standards Organization (ISO) is made up of national standards institutes or organizations from countries large and small, industrialized and developing, in all regions of the world.

ACI-Intemational serves as secretariat for a technical committee on Concrete, Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete. ACI has held a high profile role within the ISO, working with other national standards institutes to reach consensus on state-of-the-art technology. At present, there are 79 member countries involved in the work of ISO/TC 71, with 30 participating countries and 49 observer countries.
