ABSTRACT

The proposed provisions are intended for design and evaluation of continuous fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite structures. The working stress design approach and load and resistance factor design approach have been proposed herein as two alternative methods of design, with emphasis on evaluating for load induced stresses, deflections, local buckling and lateral-torsional buckling. In addition, for glass FRP structural shapes, strength and serviceability limit states as design checks have been suggested along with potential need for applying material and geometric nonlinearities. Fire, thermal and acoustic responses have not been addressed herein.
