ABSTRACT

In order to protect the environment and minimize the use of non-renewable resources, recycling of polymeric materials from end-of-life plastics products has become a necessity. This article introduces three processes available for plastics recycling and then discusses a few technical issues on material recycling processes. This discussion is followed by presenting an overview of research progress on recycling of engineering thermoplastic polymers recovered from electronics shredder residue. Finally infrastructure applications of recycled polymers are described.
