ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to provide a reference on the types of education and training programs available and required in the field of radiation protection (health physics). Information presented includes lists of educational institutions, sources of information on training courses, lists of professional accrediting and certifying organizations, rationale for the development of new programs, requirements for such programs, employment opportunities afforded by the completion of such programs, and a brief introduction to methods of planning instruction and teaching techniques. A bibliography of references useful in developing and implementing education and training in radiation protection is also included.
