ABSTRACT

This chapter presents an interview of Marcia Davis, who holds a joint appointment as district clinical psychologist for the Coventry Health Authority and as senior lecturer in the psychology department at the University of Warwick. Her major time commitment is to coordinating and developing the Coventry Clinical Psychology Service and to psychotherapy practice. Working as an National Health Service clinician in the provinces where therapeutic resources are limited, Marcia is keenly aware of the need for therapy services which offer a flexibility of approach so that a broad range of clients can make use of them. She has also been concerned with the development of supervision and post-qualification training support for clinical psychologists. In her clinical work, Marcia has specialized in relationship problems and psychosexual difficulties. She has become increasingly fascinated by the therapeutic issues posed by ‘difficult’ patients.
