ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the interested reader develop training and education courses and programs that thoroughly expose the employee only to aseptic practices and techniques, but also to teach the basic principles behind aseptic practices; that is, basic microbiological knowledge, fundamentals of contamination control, and product characteristics that support microbial contaminants. Education and training in good aseptic practices, while pointing out the worst that can happen from a contaminated product administered to a human being, must emphasize that any type of contamination is wrong and indicative of poor practices. Besides commitment to teaching and learning enablement, education and training personnel should have the following skills: One of the biggest complaints clean room operators express about their training program is the lack of experienced and qualified trainers. Literature citations throughout this chapter are good tools to use to supplement instruction on good aseptic practices.
