ABSTRACT
Jamaica is scituate in seventeen or eighteen Degrees of North Latitude, its shape somewhat oval being about 170 miles long, and about seventy broad, in the midst whereof runs a continued ridg of high Mountains, so that some have compared the Island to a saddle; from hence flow divers fresh springs, which cause many Rivers to the great refreshment of the Inhabitants; It came into the possession of the English upon this occasion.
