ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview about the specifics of change programmes and their management, including some innovative ideas using a systemic background that might help to improve the results of such programmes. Change management is the systematic set-up, conception and implementation of measures to change an organization in a planned direction. It focuses on specific interventions on three different levels that are interwoven and have to be considered and addressed simultaneously, as: individual level; group/team level; and organization level. The chapter examines the management of change programmes from a more integrated and systemic perspective, combining some aspects of change management and programme management for greater effectiveness. Project and programme management and change management complement each other very well from a traditional perspective. A more integrated approach goes one step further so that these areas are no longer separated but combined, seen as two sides of the same coin.
