ABSTRACT

The urban, community-based program of Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children (CSAAC) is in contrast to the rural, farmstead residential and vocational model of Bittersweet Farms. CSAAC includes residential opportunities in supervised urban housing, supported employment in community jobs, and a prevocational classroom. The pricing gun is pre-set and they stamp the little label on each piece and put them back in the box. They are trained to watch until the marker reaches the line and the tape and then they put them in plastic bags, seal the bag and put them in a box. The use of any procedure which we consider restrictive has to be approved by two committees. The first is the behavior management team, which is composed entirely of staff. The second is the Human Rights Committee which is composed of one-third client representatives, one-third staff, and one-third community who are not in any way connected with CSAAC.
