ABSTRACT

This paper discusses a nondestructive procedure that is applied to detect a crack in bridge eyebar specimens. The nondestructive testing procedure that is used is known as the multireference impact testing method and involves studying changes in the modal characteristic of the test specimens due to cracking. Four identical eyebars specimens are tested before and after a crack has been introduced in the test specimens. The resulting reposes obtained from impact testing have been analyzed to identify the presence of the crack in these specimens.
