ABSTRACT

The 14th International Congress of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology took place on the campus of Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington from August 3–8, 1998. While official records kept by Conference Services (the WWU office that took care of registration and related matters) indicate that there were 469 paid registrants, more than 525 people actually attended. Attendees who weren’t officially registered included many accompanying guests and numerous students from Western Washington University as well as from other universities in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. All told, this was by far the most well-attended IACCP congress in the Association’s history. It has been estimated that more than 70 countries were represented, making it the most international of all IACCP conferences. Following the pattern of all previous conferences as well as IACCP membership, there were more people from the United States than any other country. Canada was a distant second, and numerous Western European countries as well as all continents of the world were generously represented.
