ABSTRACT
In sea urchin eggs, the cell cycle is restarted by two ionic signals: a transient increase in intracelular free calcium and a sustained increase in intracellular pH. The two ionic signals stimulate cell cycle onset by regulating two cell cycle control proteins, pp34cdc2 and cyclin.
