ABSTRACT

The paper presents the concept and some examples of seismically monitoring the response of the rock mass to mining where coseismic strain and stress change can be evaluated quantitatively and continuously. The guidelines for qualitative interpretation of rock mass instabilities based on a quantitative description of microseismicity are offered. Finally the Integrated Seismic System which performs digital seismic and non-seismic data acquisition, automatic quantitative seismological processing and control functions is described.
