ABSTRACT

The paper presents the blast designs and sequences of excavation for cross drifts and widening operations of an underground Machine-Hall to its full width. The average progress, pull, obtained per round was 85–90% and the hole impressions observed after blast were more than 80% of the actual drilled length. The recorded blast induced vibrations were within safe limit. The performance of blast and post blast observations indicate that the drilling and charging pattern followed for the aforesaid underground excavations was safe and efficient.
