ABSTRACT

Automation of tunnel boring machines (TBM’s) results in higher daily progress rates which requires also a higher demand on segments at the same time. This paper deals with a research program with the aim to develop a full automated tunnel segment production system. For improving the technologies of the production using of high precision moulds, automation of the production sequences, quality assurance during process, quality control of the final product as well as a logistic transport system are investigated. To reach highest quality, mould design becomes important. Theoretical requirements on mould construction and actual practical experiences are discussed.
