ABSTRACT

The Coronation Gulf Mineral Development Area project is a multi-disciplinary approach aimed at compiling the geological, geographical, and economic data needed to encourage development of the mineral reserves of the Coronation Gulf area. The end result of this initiative is a sound information base which industry, regional organizations, and governments can access. A geographic information system product with geological, geographic, and environmental layers has been developed. Comprehensive economic evaluations of individual mineral deposits in the region are provided along with a discussion of transportation and infrastructure costs and options. The Extech project is a multi-disciplinary approach to develop new ideas and technologies to extend the lives of the existing mines and encourage the development of new one.
