ABSTRACT
Based on model experiments design guidelines for stepped spillways are developed for two different chute slopes. Particular emphasis is placed on the onset of skimming flow, the location of the inception point of air entrainment, the maximum unit discharge possible without cavitation risk, the energy dissipation characteristics, the length to attain uniform flow and the required training wall height.
