ABSTRACT

To obtain the hydraulic properties of unsaturated soils, it is necessary to analyze the saturated-unsaturated seepage flow, carrying out laboratory and field experiments. However, the time required for measurement is long and it requires a number of laboring jobs. To overcome the problems, this study is to compare the different independent methods, such as the pressure plate method, the apparatus of Richards and the Instaneous profile method using FDR with tensiometers, and Multi-step outflow and Evaporation method approach for estimating the soil hydraulic properties using inverse modeling. This paper discusses the influence of each method on the hydraulic properties and the modeling
