ABSTRACT

The Alsacian aquifer is the target of an action program from Nitrate Directive against groundwater pollution. The wine profession is aware of the role it plays in the reduction of nitrate leachate. This association recommends the use of ingrassed vineyards (growing grass between the wine rows). Within the scope of the interdisciplinary project EVA (Enherbement du Vignoble Alsacien), an analysis of the 98/99 allows to assess the impact of vineyard ingrassed on vine plot instrumented scale in Rouffach site (Infiltration and Run-Off). It is the first stage in the understanding process, the aim of which is to adapt a specific model of slope vineyard transfer. The interrow ingrassed method influences the vine roots, the water balance (−20%), the soil nitrate concentration (−90%) and thus the nitrate leachate flux (−91%) reloading aquifer.
