ABSTRACT

The National report on Geotechnical engineering education and training in Croatia is presented. A historical overview is included, as well as some evidence on how changes in transition countries of Mid and Eastern Europe in the late eighties affected education. Undergraduate and postgraduate geotechnical courses offered at Croatian Universities and courses at Polytechnics are covered. The Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering is introduced. It is shown that geotechnical education has a long tradition in Croatia, and it includes continuing education for practicing engineers.
