ABSTRACT

Regarding the behaviour of the road freezing, the effects of geotechnical and thermal parameters are generally well known. However, the influence of these parameters on the surface temperature of the pavement have not been studied yet. In numerical simulations, temperature is often imposed. In this study, we present numerical simulations with Gell D software to quantify the influence of different parameters on the pavement surface temperature evolution. The exchange coefficient and the initial temperature of the air-pavement interface are the most important parameters. But their determination is difficult and imprecise. Then, further research is needed to improve the evaluation of these parameters.
