ABSTRACT

An apparatus based on Peltier is developed at Tsinghua University for cold regions engineering studies. The results are very close to each other of both the initial centrifuge modelling of models of heat transfer in a soil foundation and the repeated modelling tests for loaded soil foundation undergoing two cycle of freeze-thaw under 40g. These facts demonstrate the scaling laws of pure conduction and free convection heat transfer N2 times faster in the centrifuge model than in the prototype.
