ABSTRACT
When rain falls on a frozen ground, either it freezes or it remains liquid and thaws the frozen ground. We adress this problem by describing phase-changes involving a discontinuous temperature. It appears that two constitutive laws describes the phenomenon together with the classical balance equations. An example shows that the resulting predictive theory accounts for the basic physical phe-nomenons.
