ABSTRACT

A serious problem may arise such as lack of groundwater supply when a small island of Kapoposang will be developed as a tourist area. In order to anticipate this problem, a hydrogeological survey including permeability, infiltration and resistivity measurement has been carried out in this area. A survey on water demand for local people and a water balance study were conducted. The result of this survey shows that in the dry season as well as in the rainy season there is no lack of water. However in the future, with the increasing water demand for tourist purposes, it needs a proper technical evaluation of the limit to exploitation; and further, possibly creating an artificial aquifer or “freshwater lens trap” is proposed as a way for water recharge enhancement in this small island.
