ABSTRACT
In the last 20 years, more and more users in public and private sectors have attempted to use satellite imagery to improve existing geological maps (not always available and updated) to locate sites with groundwater potential in arid region. To meet growing demand from customers who are now more keenly aware than ever of the issues involved in looking for water resources, SPOT IMAGE has developed the appropriate technical and economical solution based on satellite imagery and now offers an industrial GIS integrated decision-making tool devoted to groundwater exploration. Such a solution includes satellite images and products, updated existing thematic maps and the final map of targets for geophysical validation. Our solution allows to save time and money by optimising localisation of geophysical surveys and increasing the success rate of drilling works.
