ABSTRACT
The aspidochirote holothurians are mostly large invertebrate animals, common in tropical and subtropical waters, especially in the Indo-West Pacific area. Nearly all the edible species named beche-de-mer or trepang belong to this order. They have long been known not only as a delicacy of Chinese menu but also as a tonic medicine.
