ABSTRACT

Four lysosomal enzymes have been detected in oocytes of Asterias rubens, at various stages of vitellogenesis. One of those enzymes is present in all stages of Asterina gibbosa, while another only in the younger oocytes. Three are absent in the matured oocytes of Asterina gibbosa. These results may be related to the differences of development between the two species and perhaps to the maturation of yolk material.
