ABSTRACT
In steep channels significant changes occur in the flow structure due to the effect of roughness elements that cover a substantial part of the flow depth. These are observed in the friction factor, velocity distribution and turbulence intensities. The modification of flow structure influences the initiation of motion of bed particles and rate of bed-load transport.
