ABSTRACT
During recent decades many genebanks for autogamous plants or vegetatively propagated species have been established throughout the world. In a few cases these dealt with cross-pollinated plants but they were usually stores for seed samples or plant samples and have not solved the many problems of preservation of the genetic diversity of this kind of species over a long period of time.
