ABSTRACT

Sequential sampling charts have been developed for use in Brussels sprouts. Based on variable tolerance levels for the caterpillar complex and cabbage aphid infestation levels during the entire growing period appropriate sequential sampling schemes for both categories of pests are given. Their value as a tool for the grower under various conditions is discussed. Sequential sampling seems to be useful at tolerance levels of 20 % of infested plants and higher. Sampling takes increasingly less time when infestation differs more from the relevant tolerance levels. Varietal differences may influence sampling costs.
