ABSTRACT
A checklist of common and abundant Staphylinidae in cereals and grassland in Northern Europe is presented. A summary of diet records for relevant genera is also included. This indicates that many adults are potential predators of various stages of cereal and grass pests, though less is known of larval diet. Evaluation of staphylinid predators and parasitoids in relation to chronotype categories and impact on pest populations is discussed.
