ABSTRACT

The effects of a 6 m wide untreated strip on natural enemies of pests are being recorded continuously during a three year period, starting in 1985. Pitfall methods, D-vac samples, emergence traps and a removal trapping method are used to investigate the effects of untreated headlands on populations of natural enemies of insect pests and their penetration into the field. Results from the first year’s pitfall trappings and experience with the trapping-out design are presented.
