ABSTRACT
The reconstruction of the winter rainfall series of Santiago de Chile back to the year 1220 using the tree-ring chronology of El Asiento is discussed in this paper.
The use of new statistical techniques in the reconstruction of the chronology, in the control of the homogeneity of the sampled site and a careful verification of the results have allowed to improve the percentage of the explained variance between the reconstructed series and the observed one.
This control is extended to the domain of the frequency by the use of crosspectra, coherence and gain analysis.
Some features that are shown in the reconstructed series are discussed.
ResumenSe discute en este trabajo la reconstrucción de las series de precipitación invernal de Santiago de Chile, en forma retrotraída al año 1220 de nuestra era, utilizando la cronología de anillos de árboles de la localidad de El Asiento.
El uso de nuevas técnicas estadísticas en la reconstrucción,de la cronología, en el control de la homogeneidad de la localidad muestreada y una verificación cuidadosa de los resultados, ha permitido mejorar el porcentaje de la varianza explicada entre las series reconstruidas y la observada.
