ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the Give a Shit project as a case study of innovative collaboration, a model of engaged action that researchers can offer society with planned and clearly articulated outcomes and benefits. The discussion presented points to the important role of collaborative approaches for a sustainable future, such as those between anthropologists and designers in the emerging field of design anthropology. Engagement of different creative narratives and a collaborative approach should lead anthropological research from the beginning to the end. The Give a Shit project advocates for the engagement of science, research and gathered facts in applied results, bringing them closer to society and different stakeholders. Anthropological ethnographic research and the field of design show shared interests in research subjects. In both disciplines, the main interest and focus of the research is gathered around individuals, society and behavioural attitudes.
