ABSTRACT
The house is the proper location for the consumption and display of money, while the outside – beyond the village, beyond the world of kinship reciprocity and exchange, beyond local and national borders – is the field from which money can legitimately be obtained, and almost any means of obtaining it is legitimate Gorale live in the Carpathian Mountains, in the foothills and high pasture reaches of the Tatra range which forms a natural border between Poland and Slovakia.
