ABSTRACT

The management of risk is integral to managing voluntary sport organisations effectively. Everyone involved with the organisation has a responsibility to take well-judged, sensible risks to develop the organisation. However, to make sure that risks are well judged and sensible, risk management needs to be part of the management procedures that operate within the organisation. Risk management is a fairly straightforward process; however, unless it is also considered to be an essential function of the governance process, there is a danger that it may not be carried out properly.
