ABSTRACT
The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) is the second most important ocean-atmosphere coupled circulation system that influences the earth’s climate after the El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO).1 The NAO contributes to multiyear climate variations in Europe, North America, and North Africa. The NAO index is a measure of westerly wind strength over the North Atlantic in winter.
