ABSTRACT
The Atlantic Thermohaline Circulation (ATHC), or often referred to simply as the thermohaline, plays an essential role in regulating the earth’s climate. It is also an integral component of the carbon cycle. The name thermohaline is derived from the word temperature (thermo) and salt (haline). Temperature, salinity, and prevailing winds drive the thermohaline.
