ABSTRACT

In almost every creative process there will be a period of some darkness or dip of confidence, a lack of enjoyment or clarity of purpose. I call these times ‘tunnels’ because it is important to recognise and name them, so as to survive and manage them. If the tunnel is prolonged and deep, it can be felt as a black hole, from which there is no rescue, but if one recognises it as a tunnel, with light at each end and as a part of the moving journey, one can cope with it with more grace.
