ABSTRACT
When in 1975 Allen & Unwin published Volume I of this work, we chose not to include certain of the Hearst essays which were readily available in three of Russell’s books, namely In Praise of Idleness and Other Essays (1935), The Autobiography of Bertrand Russell, Vol. II (1968) and Bertrand Russell’s America, Vol. I (1973). These essays first appeared on 13 January 1932, 9 August 1933, 8 January 1934, 14 September 1934, and 27 September 1934, and can be found in this volume in chronological order. In view of the lapse of time since then and even since they were reprinted in books by Russell, we thought it desirable to include them in the present volume.
