ABSTRACT

Having analysed this over the years, I would say placing doesn’t really matter one iota. If you are right for the part and let the panel see what they need to by doing a well-prepared and confident audition, you will receive a recall or even offer. How do we know what the panel need to see? The simple answer is that we don’t, as it really depends on the composition of the panel and their mood or perceptions at the time. Sadly, someone who is absolutely perfect or a great actor may sometimes be overlooked, though this often rectifies itself in the future, perhaps after another or several auditions with the same director or producer (maybe for different productions) or perhaps when they have been impressed with your work on stage or screen. Talent will out sounds like a cliché and, while there is no guarantee this will happen, if you believe and keep going long enough, there is no reason why this cliché cannot become reality!
