ABSTRACT
Construction and environmental protection are one of the contradictions of modern society. However, the Sixiao Highway project demonstrates a good combination of tropical rainforest, modern science and national customs, and is a successful example of local government. This highway implemented scientific theory and the sustainable capacity of human beings and nature, and realized economic progress through environmental protection. Hu Jintao, the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, praised this highway in his inspection of Yunnan Province in May 2006.
