ABSTRACT

It is not often that one has the opportunity of reading a good academic book with a foreword by the British Prime Minister. We all know that Gordon Brown is not George W. Bush. The Prime Minister certainly can write a reasonably good two-page foreword on Adam Smith. He has his academic credentials. Moreover, he is also a Scot. Although Gordon Brown was born in Glasgow, he attended Kirkcaldy High School. His father was minister of Kirkcaldy parish church. So like Smith, Gordon Brown is a native of Kirkcaldy.
