ABSTRACT

The concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been widely recognized, but there has not been a widely accepted definition in the academic circles. Generally speaking, CSR refers to that while firms are responsible to maximize their profit and their shareholders’ interest, they should also commit themselves to the responsibilities to their employees, costumers, environment, and communities where they operate their business. It includes business ethics, operation safety, occupation health, protection of workers’ legal rights and interests, environmental protection, engagement in charities, donation to public welfare, and aid to social weak groups.
