ABSTRACT

In the initial session(s) of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) clients usually ask questions such as, `What is my problem?', `Why doesn't this problem remit?', `Is there a cure or solution to my problem?', and `What is CBT?' At the same time, therapists ask themselves, `Is this client motivated?', `Is he suitable for CBT?', `Will he be able to respond favourably to CBT?', `What are his expectations from the therapist and this therapy?', `Is he willing to try to take an active role in therapy?', or `How possible is it that he will drop out of therapy?'
